voluntary surrender

My partner has voluntarily surrendered himself back to prison on 29/05/2008. He was breached on licence back on 15/06/2004. At the time of his breach he told his probation officer that he had a motorbike accident and within weeks was admitted to hospital with a blood clot in his leg. After release from hospital he was homeless and went to stay with a friend. Three years ago I met him and we have lived together since. He has sorted out his life, been clean from drugs for nearly three years, been employed for around two and a half years and has committed no offences in the last four. He thought long and hard and decided to surrender himself to finally rid himself from his past. He has been in prison for 9 days and no one seems to know anything. He is becoming depressed and disillusioned. Please could someone advise me of contacts etc that i could help him with. There is no sign of a recall pack, yet others who are recalled in the same prison who are re offenders have had theirs in three days. This is not a place for him to be. He has given up his job and seems to be being punished for rehabilitating himself. This to me should be cut and dry and he should be released again on licence where he is now in a very stable position to comply....... please help[/b]

it should be cut and dry as you say...... but with the state of our system.. nothing is cut and dry im afraid.
i got my recall pack 14 days after i was recalled... he needs to get it off asap and he needs a brief who knows what hes doin.... email admin on here and they will put you in touch with someone in your area....
how long on his licence did he have to serve...... and was it his first recall.....
he should get a letter pretty soon off the ministry of justice lot which will tell him how long hes got left to serve..... get a good prison law brief for him coz it seems hes done really well sorting his life out....... good luck with it all........ the main thing you need right now is a good prison lawyer who knows the score with recall stuff..........

thanks joseph. think have found decent solicitor now, its taken several attempts to find one to help. It is his first breach of licence and he has 11 months left on it. Probation are visiting him tomorrow so hopeful that things can start moving, although he been at his majesty's displeasure for 2 weeks now and still no licence recall pack. Keep getting on to prison parole clerk myself being a right pain in a** ! He rekons though that they will ask Sheffield probation for a risk assessment on himm, but waste of time cause he aint lived there for four years and he aint a bad boy no more! I am gathering as many statements as i can and documents such as pay slips to prove his good character now.

cheers for now
