Bent Screw - News Of The World
http://www.newsoftheworld.co.uk/1208_prison.shtml
(yesterdays news 12.08.2007)
It seems HMP Forest Bank have employed yet another Milk Tray man or should I say yet another budding 007.
I know this is a privately run prison but it comes to something when someone claims he can throw in a private helicoptor as well to escape in celebrity A list style or should I catagorise it as B?
To envisage an helicoptor landing in the exercise yard beggers belief and I'm pretty sure should this plan had come off- this geezer would have needed to book the mountain rescue team because I think they'd have been half a dozen inmates clinging to that helicoptor rope! Enough to put The ShawShank Redemption in the shade!
In one quote, when Mr Todd is talking about smuggling drugs, he comments:
"They have drug dogs and if they bark you're straight down the nick for a strip search, so it's quite risky."
So am I right in saying here that the drugs dog sits down beside visitors suspected of smuggling drugs yet barks when an officer is under suspicion? Clever dog, I take it on retirement it'll be working for Blue Peter then?
Next came Todd's claim that a female prison officer performed oral sex on an inmate in his cell. He laughed: "Now everyone wants it."
Really Mr Todd? Well I am shocked!
No, I don't think it's amusing but lets have it right, this nick has been a Walt Disney establishment from the day it opened. In fact, I'm sick of hearing about this troubled prison which has been featured on numerous occasions in local newspapers in the north west and each article stating: the prison are doing their best, the prison are combatting the problem, the prison are taking stricter measures and so on and so forth.
I've visited this prison on numerous occasions and without prejudice, I have been searched by officers who look like they've just come out of Mothercare baby grows.
Who I do feel sorry for are those who are committed like the CARAT workers etc. They must feel like they are banging their heads against a brick wall when officers like this muppet are just abusing the system.
Whether people like it or not, I also feel for those with drug issues in there who are trying to remain abstinent because they don't stand much of a chance do they when officers like these who consider themselves to be some sort of Father Christmas are supplying parcels left right and centre. Of course it has to be said that inmates can always say no but lets have it right, Mr Parcel Force here isn't exactly helping matters is he?
Now the officer has time on his hands after being suspended, he should possibly pursue a career alongside David Copperfield who I may add displays some amazing helicoptor illusions- either that or Mr Todd is devising yet another plan to dig a tunnel underneath a fitting poster of Girls Aloud.
As for the Holby City escape plan? Sorry Mr Todd, wasn't it in the news not long ago that this has indeed already been done?
I'm not branding all officers in the same light as this one because they're not, I've met many committed officers who have the correct intentions and rightly so.
I'd be interested to see the outcome of this investigation (incidently, how many of those have Forest Bank had now?)

I will be waiting in anticipation for the next headline to surface- Convict Escapes In Yellow Submarine!
Out of interest I've been scouring other prison related websites reading comments about the News Of The World investigation.
A number of people are sceptical and actually feel sorry for Mr Todd?
I don't! However, I do feel sorry for his family. I also feel for those in prison who are bullied on a daily basis in to scoring that nasty powder Todd and other idiots who shamefully class themselves as prison officers smuggle in. (fact)
Not only do those inside suffer at the hands of the scum who are dealing it, think of the innocent families who are pressurised in to sending postal orders week in and week out to save their loved ones skin from black eyes and broken ribs because that's exactly how it is!

the way I see it is this..... as an ex con not only does the system fail us.... it fails it staff as well.
some of the new screws are left unsupervised and usually it is these lot who are easy targets.......... they find the odd risk of bringin in burn no problem... but it is a slippery slope cos before they know it they bringing in smack and fones..... screws who are caught red handed doing it end up in a hole that failed them in the first place..........

You've got a point but I will never feel sorry for those who take drugs inside. Not only the staff but families of prisoners too who abuse the system and there are plenty of them.
I appreciate that officers are often bullied in to taking stuff in, I also know that wifes and girlfriends are pressurised in to taking things as well.
The question is, how is it rectified? Drugs have been getting inside for years yet the situation has got worse not better and how many years have the government rattled on about it?
For God sake, they've quacked on about hefty recalls for ages and still probation are sending folk back in for sneezing so to be quite honest, I don't take much notice of what the bloody prison services say because what exactly gets done?
