I wonder whether it has really been a wake up call?
The Stephen Lawrence Murder had a fundamental effect on the Metropolitan Police. The then Commissioner was forced to accept that his Force was 'Institutionally Racist'.

institutionally racist
The former Director General of the Prison Service, Martin Narey, publicly admitted the Service was institutionally racist within weeks of the murder of Zahid Mubarek. The Mubarek Inquiry report is very wide-ranging - see http://www.zahidmubarekinquiry.org.uk/ - and has already resulted in major changes; cell-sharing risk assessments for a start. I agree though that it takes more than a report to bring about change, and it may ten years before real change can be felt - what do we do in the meantime?

Racism is everywhere and it has been for 100 years at least..
In UK in America everywhere..
I believe every police force has racism in it..
Every school has racism..
Every town in the world..
We can't stop it no matter how hard we try..
